Glen O’Brien
Principal & Founder g.obrien@saltproperty.com.au 0418 923 123Primarily a property investor, there’s little Salt principal and founder Glen O’Brien hasn’t learned about the property sector since commencing his stellar real estate sales career at the age of 24.
To overcome his initial lack of listings due to his youth, Glen began helping buyers find the right home by driving them around, showing them properties and sharing commissions with the selling agent when a deal went through.
This innovative, down-to-earth, and personalised approach turned out to be an investment in his future success, with many of these buyers later choosing Glen to sell their homes. More than 30 years on, his multi-service agency is helping meet the diverse property needs of many of his original clients’ children.
Having established himself as a leading sales agent, Glen then joined a Perth property consultancy, gaining rare experience across many facets of the real estate industry, and ultimately becoming a partner in the business.
In 2011, he founded Salt, a thriving agency which prides itself on tailoring its suite of exemplary property services to the individual needs of its clients, helping them meet their professional and personal goals.
Underpinning all of Glen’s interactions are his commitments to:
- Always put the needs of the client first
- Create lifetime relationships; and
- Freely offer first-class, evidence-based advice that is best for those he’s guiding.
Philosophy & Motivation
Understanding that reputation is everything in real estate, Glen is driven by honesty, trust and loyalty in all of his property dealings.
Whether he’s working with a long-time investor or a first home buyer, he thrives on sharing his considerable real estate knowledge to help people pave their own unique property investment pathway.
“If I can put together a deal where everybody’s happy, if I can orchestrate a win-win then that’s the best outcome and sharing in the emotion of that is very rewarding,” Glen says.
Passions
Family, farming, and flying are Glen’s three chief passions outside of property.
Born in Perth and married with three children, his first love is his family.
His other deep connection is to farming and rural Western Australia. This passion was sparked in his teen years, when he was working part-time as a crayfishing deckhand and part-time as a farmhand. Glen now spends many hours tending to his Tenterden farm and revels in the many rewards of running cattle and cultivating crops.
With a long-held dream to be a pilot, aviation is another obsession, and Glen is famed for flying his light aircraft across the pacific from Florida to Perth.
Team sports – predominantly cricket and football – have also played a big part in his life and, more recently, he’s developed a keen interest in playing lawn bowls.
