What’s Coming Up: Local Events

At Salt Property Group, we enjoy nothing more than participating in local events. We’re exciting to once again host our annual Salt Sixes cricket event on 22 November 2019; in addition to the multiple Perth events just around the corner. Here is our list of a few of those events that show how great our local area is, and the great things happening just up the road or just across the water.

Local Events

If you live within a the suburbs surrounding Salt Property Group in Applecross or want to know more about the area before making a move here, these events are for you. Our suburbs are diverse and very community minded. There is always a community event coming up; here’s a few.

Salt Sixes

For the last eight years we’ve hosted a community cricket event to give those taking part the opportunity to network locally while having a fun day out in the sun. It’s a round robin competition; the teams are comprised of amateur players and corporate members with each team fielding six people a side. There are at least four matches and, most importantly, there is a luncheon and drinks. And let’s be honest, it’s a great excuse to get out of work for day.

Kidchella 2.0

Kidchella 2.0 is a great day out with the family consisting of rides, music, glitter tattoos, bouncy castles and more! The annual event is one of any kid friendly events that happen throughout the year.

 Highway to Hell

This will be a big day for AC/DC fans and music lovers in general as Canning Highway closes to become a stage. On 1st March 2020, Canning Highway will be closed off from Canning Bridge in Applecross all the way to Fremantle as a stage drives down the highway playing live music in tribute to Bon Scott. Feel free to move with it and take in all the local shops and restaurants along the way.

Rottnest Island

Rottnest Island is an island getaway on our doorstep. It is the simplest getaway for most people and can be as quick as a day trip or a week’s long holiday. The island also holds events across the entire year. Here are a few coming up.

Wadjemup Cup

Clontarf foundation helps young aboriginal men succeed in school and find employment after. There are 116 Clontarf Academies within 129 schools across the country. On 3rd November there will be a round robin AFL competition for the Clontarf Football Academies across WA. It will be a great day out on Rottnest Island with great young athletes and it will show support for all the great things Clontarf does.

Rottnest Swimrun

The Rottnest Swimrun is exactly what it sounds like. It is a mix of swimming, beach running, trail running and road running covering 31.2km. If you enjoy marathons then feel free to go show your support, or even sign up!

 The Doctor Ocean Paddler

This is an ocean paddling event starting on Rottnest Island and ending 27km away at Sorrento Beach. The event is for paddling enthusiasts looking to partake in the sport or simply admire from the shore. The winner will receive $50,000, but this isn’t for the faint of heart. It is a very physical activity which only becomes harder depending on the weather.

Christmas seems to become bigger and bigger each year with the shopping season starting months before the actual day. Even though it can seem like a hassle for the adults, it can be an incredibly fun time for the family.

Christmas Pageant

The annual Christmas Pageant is on once again. The event itself will be on 7th December and will be an evening of fun for everybody who loves celebrating Christmas.

Christmas Light Trail

Every year you’ll find one of that the simplest activities are the most fun. So pack the family in the car and spend your December nights driving around your local suburbs to take in the Christmas lights.

You can also partake in the Christmas Light Trail in the city this December. The trail shows off the festivities that the city has to offer from Yagan Square to St Georges Cathedral.
