Steptember 2019

Here at Salt Property Group, we don’t just sell houses or manage properties. We’re a team of people who give back where we can. As a team this month we are taking part in Steptember. And in order to make the most of it, we need your help.

For those unaware, Steptember is a charity raising money for cerebral palsy (CP). Unfortunately, CP isn’t a topic many people have a wealth of knowledge about. The reality for a lot of people is that knowledge of a disorder isn’t investigated until it affects them personally. CP is a disorder that affects 1 in 700 babies. 34,000 Australians live with it and 17 million people worldwide. It is the lifelong result of a brain injury that happens often in the womb or sometimes, but very rarely, shortly after birth. The cause of the brain injury is unknown, but the effects of it cause varying degrees of damage. A person with CP will have stiff muscles, weak muscles; tremors as well as problems with their visions, their swallowing and their speaking. It can be a problem which leaves a person in a wheelchair for life, or in need of crutches or any other kind of walking aids. As stated, there are varying degrees of damage; this leaves people with CP with different types of the disorder that require different services and methods of care.

The point of Steptember is noble, and hard, and is a great way to help those taking part increase their own physical health, as well as raise money for those who need it. The goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day to raise money for people living with CP. The money donated will go toward vital equipment, physical therapy and services needed by people living with CP. You can donate to our team here or even sign up for yourself, or as a group. If you aren’t in a position to donate or join in then please visit the Cerebral Palsy Alliance website, because this isn’t just about raising money for people in need, but also about informing the public about CP. The more you know about it, the more educated you’ll be when it comes to spreading the word about Steptember, or sympathizing with someone directly affected by CP.

This year, the people at Salt Property Group taking part are split into two teams for Steptember:

  • Simon
  • Kimberlee
  • Rachael
  • Lindsay

  • Stephanie
  • Dane
  • Natalie
  • Selyna

Despite a little office competition, they still all have the same goal: to walk 10,000 steps each, every day, for all Steptember and raise as much money as they can.

Even the smallest donations are graciously appreciated, and our sore and potentially muscular legs thank you. To donate click here.
